I have a feeling it's a false alert. menu.lst is a text file:

Code: Select all

title <--Partitions from 1st Hard Disk
configfile (cd)/boot/sdg/S10en/S30_specialboot/S30hide_and_seek/cd/hd0/menu.lst
title *2 Partitions
configfile (cd)/boot/sdg/S10en/S30_specialboot/S30hide_and_seek/cd/hd0/part2/help.lst

title UnHide Partition 1 and Hide other Partitions

		unhide (hd0,0)

		   hide (hd0,1)

		map (hd0) (hd0)
		map (hd0) (hd0)

	root (cd)
	boot

title UnHide Partition 2 and Hide other Partitions

		unhide (hd0,1)

		   hide (hd0,0)

		map (hd0) (hd0)
		map (hd0) (hd0)

	root (cd)
	boot

Yes, it's a false alert.
Not detected by Clamav or Norton.
¿Hoax?

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i and G-Data AntiVirus Kit 2006 haven't found any kind of "threat", too. :D

When it comes to viruses and such, I would not panic. These projects like this always will have a false psoitive now and then. If you suspect that the file may be a virus, upload it to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and let that site scan it for viruses. It uses multiple AV engines to look at the file and see if truely is a nasty or if it is a harmless geryware code that gets auto flagged as bad when it is not.

SGD Virus?

#10 Post by adrian15 » Mon May 07, 2007 2:04 am

I hadn't noticed this thread before. It's quite funny to find a virus in your own software.

Has anyone the VBS:Davinia source code to see which part of it meets this menu.lst?

Anyway currently in SGD the hide and seek feature is no longer present... that means that you will not find any virus alert. :)

Giving away copies of viruses or their source code is illegal, isn't it ?

That assertion means that all antivirus software developers are being working illegally all these years when they exchange codes ?
