Hello, I'm trying top reformat my hdd since I messed up re-installing WinXP Pro in my laptop. I accidentally pull the plug and not it keeps booting to the setup screen then it returns an error about some files missing and I can't stop it.
I tried loading the UBCD first but what it does is it boots then it automatically loads the corrupted WinXP setup files and here we go again. Is there a way to stop it form doing it and to just automatically boot to dos?

... did you press Enter at the prompt saying to press it to boot UBCD ?
Do you have an USB keyboard ?

Nevermind. I got it to boot now and I used dban to erase my hdd. Did I do the right thing? I used dban so I have no trace whatsoever (Kinda) so I can install Vista Ultimate now (Which cost me an arm and leg).
I have a laptop.
Actually, I don't think I did it right.
I downloaded the .ISO, extracted it via PowerISO. Then c&p it to the CD and burned it. Is that the right way?

You don't have to extract the ISO to burn. You
must not extract it. Burn it as an image.

Ok I did, it works now but it says pci.sys is corrupted. I already did a dban twice.

You should not need to Dban-wipe the drive to reinstall Windows, as the Windows installer has a built-in format tool.
If you're missing files on your fresh install, have you checked your hard disk and memory?
