Newbe Needs To Part & Boot

I checked the the UBCD FAQ page, the forum's help pages and couldn't figure this out. I have 2 desk tops. I tried to use my external dvdrom via usb but neither would respond to it with the UBCD in it. I made sure to make the hdd last in BIOS. One pc has no cdrom so I tried the cdrom in the other and it seemed to start to boot from the UBCD but then went right to the old xp os. At first it would say boot: and tried entering d:/, a:/ and even c:/ but no luck. Any ideas?

Just press enter without typing anything to boot the UBCD ?

Any ideas why using the external dvdrom via usb didn't do anything at all?

Also, it's a UBCD that I ordered last week so it came ready to use and properly prepared.

Just hitting enter after boot: appeared did the trick for my cd-rom but still no joy with my external dvr/cd rom.

Booting through USB devices is a hit and/or miss thing. Check in your BIOS to see what options are available. Sometimes several options are possible for Booting USB devices. It may list USB device, USB Hard Drive, USB ATA Device, etc. Try the different options to see if any help. If you have any other USB CD drives available you can try using those as well, maybe one of them will work.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't seen any options specifically listing USB in either BIOS but I'll explore some more.
