Bad hard drive?

My computer quit booting up. I ran the diagnostic test and it says, hard drive connection test failed. Also in bios it does not see my cd rom anymore, so I can't boot
Ultimate boot cd from it. What do u think is the problem?

Posdibly loose connection. Is it a desktop or laptop?
