Using the original UBCD 5.3.8, when you are at the pmagic boot menu you could:

1_ Press [Esc]
2_ Type:

Code: Select all

config.c32 /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg
3_ Press [Enter]

If you can customize UBCD, you could edit the file:

Code: Select all

pmagic\boot\syslinux\syslinux.cfg
and add to it a new entry (e.g. at the very end of the file) such as:

Code: Select all

LABEL ubcd
MENU LABEL Back to UBCD's menu
CONFIG /ubcd/menus/syslinux/main.cfg /boot/syslinux/

I have tried this but didn't work.

If I logout from Parted Magic I get menu:
Restart Computer, Turn Off Computer, Logout, Save Session, Cancel

If I logout here, I get Parted Magic Main Menu.
In this menu, last option is: Exit Return to shell

root@partedmagic: ~#

When I type 'menu' it gives me the program Parted Magic.

So I can' t enter the first boot menu from UBCD 5.3.8.

Maybe there is another option to get there?

I thought that you were asking how to exit from pmagic's boot menu, back to UBCD's (main) boot menu. I misunderstood your initial question.

What you are asking is: how to "exit" an OS (pmagic) without rebooting. Whichever the OS would be, the answer is: that is not possible; you either reboot, or you power-off/shutdown.

So it isn't possible to make an extra option in the Parted Magic Main Menu.
For example:
Goto UBCD Main Menu, Restart Computer, Turn Off Computer, Logout, Save Session, Cancel
