Are ISOs Sent to RAM?

Dear forum members,

Greetings!

I have a bootable Windows LiveCD that I am considering placing inside UBCD as an ISO. The problem is that this LiveCD (or ISO) does not use any ramdisk for booting which is also called "flat boot". This effectively means, as it pertains to this "flat boot" LiveCD, that the speed under which the whole system operates is limited by the reading speed of the optical disc. My question is, if I go ahead with this project, will UBCD send the ISO to RAM so that the sytem operates at the speed of RAM without having the limitation of the reading speed of the optical disc (represented by the ISO)?

Best to all,

Hello, forum members!

Perhaps I have found the answer.

I understand that UBCD uses memdisk to boot user ISOs. And if we go here:

http://mistyrebootfiles.altervista.org/ ... es/iso.htm ,

we can read in relevant part:

"memdisk - loads the ISO file into memory prior to booting from it."

Thus, the answer is that UBCD indeed sends the ISO to RAM before booting from it.

If you have any further comments, please post.

Thank you,
