GPT Protection Partition with UBCD ?
Originally I had Vista Ultimate on my PC with a master and slave SATA HDD. I decided to go back to XP pro sp3. When I moved back to XP, my slave drive is now labeled GPT Protection Partition and I cannot access the drive at all!! Does anyone know if there is a tool on UBCD to change the format of the drive but still keep all my data on there??
Look at: http://www.command-tab.com/2008/02/08/g ... indows-xp/
Use the linux way or the diskpart way.
This will remove the GTP partitioning information.
Afterwards run testdisk (included in UBCD) make the partition table again so you can see the partitions again.
for more information about diskpart (maybe you have to run it from the windows vista install disk (go to the command prompt), I don't know if diskpart also works from the windows XP disk). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... 66465.aspx
It isn't completely sure that testdisk can rebuild the partition table (normally it should), because I am not completely sure if the GTP partiton thing affects the partitioning of the drive itself (don't think so).
Or try the following (probably the best way,):
