Win boot issue

I have downloaded, unzipped, and burnt the .iso image.
I have also downloaded and burnt the .exe format.
When I boot the CD with the .iso image, it takes me to DOS prompt, not to the windows format.
The Exe CD version doesn't boot, even though I've burnt both formats by implementing the boot option in the burner software. Is there something I've missed?
My intent is to completely clean the two hard drives on this PC and install a pristine copy of WinXP Pro system...... again. At the moment I can't access the Media Player or the Quicktime Player..... for whatever reason and no amount of Recovery Console seems to remedy the problem. That, too, may be my lack of skill at using that tool.
System; Windows XP Pro SP1 (Don't trust SP 2 as yet)
Burner software programs onboard; CDBurnerXP Pro 3 and DeepBurner Pro 1.5.
Unzipped the downloads using FilZip 3.02.
