Just to be sure...

Since UBCD is not dependant on the OS - as I understood it - it doesn't matter under what Operating System you burn the ISO file to a CD... right?
Or perhaps it has to be done under the same OS of the computer I am trying to fix?
:?
...because when trying to burn UBCD to a USB stick it warns that it has to be done under W2K or XP...

UBCD is OS-agnostic.

However, the scripts UBCD2USB and UBCD2ISO are Win32 only.

If you are a Linux user, it shouldn't be too much trouble to figure out the command-line for these two scripts. makebootfat (used by UBCD2USB) and mkisofs (used by UBCD2ISO) are both available on U*ix platforms.

You might have some hurdles to overcome.

Check out this thread.

Thanks Victor
however I already downloaded the .iso file and burned it with Isoburner on my WinME notebook.
I thought some of the problems I have found using NTFS4DOS could be caused by this but otherwise UBCD boots fine
