Thank you, Icecube, for all your help. I really appreciate it. Yes, I checked the mbr (sector 0) and it compares fine (first 404 bytes, all that is in the mbr.bin file. USB keys (yes, I do use then with lots of devices, both booting and not) do not have a geometry - geometry is what needs to be in t...

Ok did all that. It really wasn't so hard. But no joy. Actually no change at all - just the blinking cursor. Using HDHacker, I loaded the mbr.bin file and wrote it to physical drive 1 (the flash drive). Seemed to work just fine. I didn't know what I should check so I just went with it. Anything I ca...

Your experience is different than mine. I've never had HDD work with a flash drive. However, at your suggestion, I just tried it again. Same results I always see - pause at boot and then boot the hard disk into XP. So, nothing that works. I really have no clue where to find an older syslinus boot pr...

Sure. Nothing at all on the screen - as I said just a blinking cursor. The bios is set correctly (on 3 different machines.) two different keys, all work just fine with 4.11 on them, not with this new 5. My motherboards are all ASUS, from 3 months to 2 years old and have no problem with bios support ...

I'd like to use v5 but ...
I'm a long-time v4 (and earlier) user. Add my own images of new and/or missing things and am very happy. Glad there is this great update effort. Not sure why the large effort over Parted Magic, but I'll learn I guess. My big problem with v4 has been the fact that it is only useful to me from CD, not...

No PowerMax versions!
I guess this is both a complaint and a request. As I'm using UBCD 4.11, I all of a sudden notice that PowerMax 4.09 and 4.22 no longer are to be found. Hmmmm. So, I check the version change list, and nope, no reference that says "removed." Oh, wait, there is a note that SeaTools for DOS ha...

Won't boot DOS programs from USB Mem Stick
I've tried a number, but let's just focus on a couple that fail and a couple that run - the Hitachi Feature Tool boots to the PC DOS message and hangs, the Maxtor Diagnostic boots to the DR DOS message and hangs, the FreeDOS boots quite a way then gives an illegal op code, Tom's Linus boots just fin...

Help to get a DOS image to boot
Hello folks, UBCD is great and I've been using it since early in rev. 3. I'd like to move to rev 4 but seem to be stuck on 3.4 for the following reason. I have one dos program (Image for DOS from Terabyte) and it never would boot (even at 3.3 or 3.4) with memdisk - but it boots fine with dosemu. So ...
