I receive this error (probably) 99% of the way into the loading sequence using a AMD 970 chipset based MB.
I am not using UEFI. This is running v5.3.8 in a bootable CD.
Interestingly, this boots ok in two older laptops (both AMD based). I haven't tried a USB stick version , I would prefer using a CD if possible.

I'm kinda lost with Kernel Panic errors.
What is it that your trying to do?
More information would be helpful such as the MB model, what tools you tried if you got to the menu, etc. The system your trying to boot may have devices that are not supported. Are you getting the error when booting to the menu or a specific tool? If it's with PartedMagic, try running in "fail safe" mode or try downloading a more recent Linux Live CD/DVD to see it that works for you.
