UBCD and VMware's Workstation 6...won't boot.

#1 Post by stevezygote » Tue Jul 17, 2007 5:53 pm

I set up an MS-DOS Virtual Machine under VMware's Workstation 6 in the hopes that UBCD would help me format a fat13 partition. However when I specified the CD as the ISO image for UBCD it booted and said press ENTER to boot but just sits there. I get...

boot:
Booting....

And it goes nowhere. Is UBCD incompatible with virtual drives?

It should, provided that the virtual machine works fine.
Sometimes though some apps won't run in some virtual machines, while they work fine in real ones.
Maybe it's a vmware issue.
UBCD boots just fine in MS Virtual PC 2004...

Would do you set your virtual machine to prior to booting UBCD?

You need to press <F2> when the VM is booting, go into the BIOS and configure it to boot from the CD-ROM. By default, it doesn't do that.
