I ran error checking and needed to re-boot because files were in use, after re-boot the computer froze and I had to unplug it. Upon start up I get the start up page with safe mode options etc. but no matter which option I choose it gets to the Windows logo and then reboots.
I only have the restore CD's and do not want to lose all data. I have not been able to acces HD with UBCD although I have tried most of the progams. Any suggestions?
I have run disk scans and no errors are found.
Is my only option XP cd to repair start up files?
Any chance of loading restore CD's on a new HD?
windows xp home will not boot

I guess you should attempt to fix the registry from recovery console, since the problem is probably there, at least if that's not some overheating problem...
