I went to the author's site and got "HDD Salvation 3.0" and wrote the .iso to a CD.
Booted that AND it's yet ANOTHER DEMO!!!
On top of this, it corrupted C:\windows\system32\config\system and made
the damned disk UNBOOTABLE!
Heads up people... this CD is LOADED with DEMO "wares" unemployed programmers are hawking!
Yes Constance, I do APOLOGIZE for the poll above. I THOUGHT
I had found a legitimate "FREE product" which lived up to expectations.
But in all honesty, the guy on eBay is selling DEMOS!!!

He probably
doesn't even know it.
The only way you can manipulate bad block tables is via Unix/Linux/Knoppix/SCO/etc.
This is due to the O.S. NOT being associated with ANY corporation!
Fuji/Hitachi/Toshiba/Maxtor/Seagate/etc. can NOT release actual repair programs
on their sites as they would lose sales!
If you find a cure for cancer, what do you have? ~200 million (more?) unemployed people!
The only reason I got this was because I could not remember which executable in Knoppix
(3.2 anyway) has the disk formatting program which allows you to format or manipulate the thing
while booted. It is a proggy which has a vast menu in it, giving selections of disks, boot image filesystem
types and I believe a badblock (MANUAL) writing option.
Anybody remember the name of that executable?
THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH! How's that "Constance", happy now?
