Anyone knows the hardware requirements for the new DBAN version?
I don't mean which HDD it supports, but the needed hardware to run it.
The 1.0.7. version is named ...386... and the 2.2.6. is named ...586...
I can't test it myself
A side note FYI: for simple wiping, there are simple tools already included in UBCD. Almost every HDD manufacturer has a tool to test a HDD, and optionally to wipe it with zeroes. Most of those tools are already included in UBCD.
You need DBAN or MHDD or similar tools to wipe a HDD only in strict cases where you must "hyper securely" wipe your data.
In most cases, writing zeroes to your HDD should be enough, and, as I said before, the HDD manufacturers' tools already have this possibility.
