After many hours and a considerable work with NTFS4DOS (computer almost hangs after every operation, error msgs, out of memory, failing copy etc) I could set up the registry recovery backups in a good folder and correct the INF references to the E: drive which NTFS4DOS reads (it's my standard C:).
Now I need to start the executable that restores all the backup files in their right places... but upon launching the EXE (from inside the folder) nothing happens - that is NTFS4DOS hangs with blinking cursor
What else could I do to end this restore satisfactorily with the programs included in UBCD??

Which EXE are you trying to run? If it is a 32-bit PE EXE, I don't think you can run it under NTFS4DOS, which is basically a DOS environment.

Hello Victor
it's a program supposed to work also under dos especially to restore the registry at a given date. It's ERDNT.EXE and the program is ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility for NT) I used it sometimes (but from inside XP) and it works fine - but when I start it from NTFS4DOS iit begins its task and then I get an Invalid Opcode at XXXX XXXX XXXX .... error and the computer hangs. Maybe too little memory allocated to NTFS4DOS?
Thanks
